Magnetic Minds: Deep Thinkers with Sensitive Hearts

Magnetic minds are deeply drawn to knowledge, experiencing things, feeling things and creating intense emotional connections with people. Essentially, these people are always looking for meaning in life, and this urge comes from their hearts. But if they don’t find enough meaning, they run the risk of depression or severe disappointment.

Perhaps the term “magnetic ghosts” is new to you—perhaps even strange. We all like to put labels on personality types, behaviors and life in general. But the type we’re talking about today isn’t as new as you might think. It first appeared in 2000 in a book by psychologist Mary-Elaine Jacobsen entitled The Gifted Adult: A Revolutionary Guide For Liberating Everyday Genius.

What she and many other psychologists have seen in their patients for years is a very specific personality type. And until recently there was no name for it. They are people who shine, who amaze not only with their knowledge, but even more so with their amazing sensitivity, intense passion for life and high (sometimes too high) ideals.

They want to build a satisfying professional future for themselves in accordance with their abilities. They want relationships where they can experience intense emotions and live meaningful lives together. And they look for friends they can connect with on an intellectual and especially emotional level.

We could say that people like this see no middle ground. Everything should be intense, everything should have a dazzling and almost magical feeling that they can use to create something.

As you can probably imagine, this kind of personality is constantly contradicting itself. The magnetic mind and its high expectations collide almost continuously with the harsh reality.

Characteristics of Magnetic Ghosts

Many people confuse magnetic minds with high IQs. But this is not always the case. They are people with an enormous ability to achieve things. They are curious, eager to gather knowledge and experience, and above all, enjoy the whole process emotionally.

Let’s look at some features.

Magnetic ghosts work incredibly fast

Magnetic minds have a “tree branch” way of thinking. They climb from one concept to another, and then they jump up to another idea, and so on. A lot of things arouse their interest, and they are completely absorbed in this out of sheer curiosity. They have a restless need to know and discover.

Their minds work at lightning speed and they are very aware of stimuli. Sometimes they get frustrated because they can’t chase all these signals at once.

Almost painful empathy

One of their most characteristic features is their ability to interact with people. It’s just like the name says, ‘magnetic.’ They find it very easy to understand other people’s needs, read their emotions and sense other people’s interests. And they always keep hoping that others will respond in the same way with the same emotional intensity.

But this doesn’t always happen and it can affect them deeply. Criticism, lies and emotional coldness can be very devastating and painful.

Magnetic minds always hear the same criticism

Magnetic minds are constantly hearing things like, “You’re too excited,” “You’re too sensitive,” “You’re too dramatic,” “You’re going too fast.”

As you can see, ‘too much’ is the common theme here.

They think it’s ‘never enough’

And here comes the eternal contradiction that magnetic spirits experience. In their own heads, even though others think they are constantly exaggerating (especially emotionally), there is the thought that something is always missing. And so they feel the need to work harder. After all, there is so much to do, they think.

They are eternally dissatisfied. Why? Because they can’t find meaningful interpersonal relationships, because life goes on and is completely meaningless, and because maybe they should have worked harder and learned more…

They are deep thinkers with a sensitive heart

If there’s one thing magnetic minds want, it’s a life partner that challenges them mentally and emotionally. This is definitely one of their biggest goals, but also one of their biggest frustrations.

So it’s common for them to go through very difficult, anxious times, and maybe even depression. They are very sensitive. In their days or months of isolation, many of them delve even deeper into their thoughts.  They try to forget their disappointment by reading books or taking new courses. In short, by collecting knowledge.

So what magnetic minds need most is to feel complete and accepted. It’s never easy when you’re constantly living at such a high emotional frequency with a never-ending desire to accumulate knowledge and find meaning in life.

Finding their magnetic ‘north’ is not easy, we know that. Therefore, they must learn to keep their feet on the ground and find balance. They need to understand that life isn’t always what they want it to be. And finally, they need to recognize that often the answers are not out there or in someone else. They are in us.
