Watch Out: Your Body Talks Too!

Note: your body also talks!

Your body also talks, it whispers, it screams… It expresses itself how it can express itself or how we allow, sometimes. Being aware of what it is trying to tell us is always a good idea, as  our body gives our mind all the information that our senses capture. So through this we are connected to the outside world and the nerves that transmit all this information are responsible for this job of carrying valuable information.

We have to be very aware of what it tells us because often it is the only real path to solving a situation. In this way  , listening carefully to your body is a good part of the essence that shapes us as  different and unique people.

And if you think about it, you will certainly remember a situation where your body was unhappy, agitated and nervous and wanted to escape a space – physical or symbolic – that it was in. Many times you will have held on to a relationship, be it platonic, romantic or professional, in which, despite the fact that you stayed, something told you that it wasn’t right, that it wasn’t what you needed. That ‘noting something’, that vague and sometimes imperceptible feeling, is part of our body.

Examples of how our body expresses itself

Below are some examples of how our body talks to us, or rather… how it can ask us for help:

  • The feeling of a frog in your throat
  • The feeling of a knot in your stomach
  • Sudden acne
  • Menstrual Disorder in Women
  • High bloodpressure
  • Migraines

In fact  , people who are most prone to psychosomatic disorders also often have difficulty expressing their emotions  and thereby addressing the problems arising from the improper management of these emotions. By psychosomatic disorders we mean the organic wounds that have a psychological origin.

When this type of patient is offered therapy, their emotions are considered and are typically analyzed from a somatic, psychological, social, and cultural perspective. So when a person is unable to resolve or accept a situation – be it with himself or with others – it leaves its mark on the body and forms a ‘cyst’, waiting for its owner to become aware to heal from this wound and to mend it so that it can continue.

Resentment, a disease on the daily agenda

When we build resentment or resentment, we harm our bodies. Resentment is a feeling that is not well managed,  that is not expressed and that travels through a person’s body without going anywhere, causing constant discomfort until it is resolved. It’s an open wound that begs to be healed, but with all the vulnerability that comes with it.

How can we understand this in relation to our body? Resentment is like food that falls heavy on the stomach, which makes us feel bloated and takes away all the desire to try something new. It’s so complicated to digest that it even makes us skip a meal or two, no matter how delicious the dish may look. Eventually, once we manage to digest it, it won’t make us feel uncomfortable anymore.

In this way, treating resentment or resentment, indicated by the teaching finger of our body signals, will restore the natural dynamics in our body. The digestion of resentment will release the muscle tension and allow us to enter a state of relaxation where our body will feel so much better.

Techniques to listen to what our body is telling us

There are several techniques for focusing your attention on your body and its ways in which it communicates with you. These techniques have their origin in Buddhist meditation.

These techniques aim to focus all our attention on our body for a few minutes a day to become  aware of each of the sensations, emotions, feelings, etc. that appear,  without judging them. Accepting them as part of the messages that our wise bodies send us and that allow us to use the information hidden in these messages to eliminate our feelings of discomfort.

Our body is truly the richest fountain we can drink from. Everyone born into it is real and sincere. Our head, with its impossible labyrinths of thought and reasoning, has not disturbed its essence. As such, listening to it is listening to ourselves. It’s being a little wiser and living in a way more rooted in who we are.

So…  Let’s listen to our body, it has a lot to tell us!
